This book didnt really grab me in the way a crime thriller should. Was ok, but just ok. Characters were ok, but just ok. They were a bit stupid werent they!Story line was ok, but just ok. A bit predictable throughout. Could make a good film though.6 out if 10
ReplyDeleteAlthough easy to read and follow there was only one story and although you wanted them to be saved by the police you had a feeling it wasn't going to turn out well. Rather predictable and a fairly short read. The story flowed quite well with the Bennett & doctor clip at the beginning finally making sense. Could have been a bit more intriguing, though makes you think that the ones that get away with criminal activity are those that take the biggest risks and are usually quite clever how they do it.
ReplyDeleteThis was a quick and easy read that easily flowed from page-to-page. My interest was piqued, in that I did want to find out what was going to happen after finishing each chapter, to this rather eclectic mix of friends. Although the language was pretty straight and to the point, I liked the way the author used a group of disenchanted friends, whose lives were supposedly going nowhere, and then showed us that you need to be careful what you wish for. The unravelling of their friendships, along with their initial crime resonated with the title – this story was never going to end well. I liked the way their initial crime veered out of control, with references to 9/11 and the introduction of nerve gas into the plot, highlighting the fact that deadlier terrorist threats are ever evolving and that there are many hardened criminals prospering from peddling pure evil too. Very timely in light of all the recent London atrocities. The ending was a bit clichéd and predictable unfortunately.

Poor thriller. Ok plot but poorly written - teenage style with gratuitous violence and swearing chucked in to make it more adult. Reluctantly speed-read just to find out what happened even though one know's it's going to be a bad ending from the opening pages. Would probably make a good film though. 2/10
